My idea is ...

Allow report data to be viewed in or exported to Excel

While it's easy to copy and paste some data from reports (such as revenue) from Word into excel there are others where it's very difficult - for example, we can't break down revenue by day because each day is separated out by a header in Word. Allowing this data to be presented or exported into one big Excel table would help out a lot.

Why has this not been implemented. This is a no brainer. The word doc. reports are frustrating at best.

This would also allow us to see revenue by room for each item. For example, show tax, insurance, cleaning fees associated with each room.

I import to Excel from Word all the time. Grab data in tables and then cut paste between Word and Excel. You can also do an import of tables, if you know how. Just more of an advanced feature. (Never mind doing Find/Replace to make data in CSV.)

Purchased a company and need to know how much money was collected in 2010 for 2011 sales. These reports don't handle my needs and if all information was exported to excel I could get it in minutes. WORD does not work for me.

Following up on my earlier comment, this is an example of what the raw data from the report could look like:

It could then be sorted or pivoted in Excel according to the innkeeper needs. This would make accountants, data crunchers, and anybody who needs detailed data in a flexible format. Please seriously consider this.

I completely agree with Martin. Currently, reports are not customizable or comprehensive, and data manipulation for the purpose of identifying trends, accounting, etc. is not being facilitated. Ideally, there would be a GUI where a user could select date range and columns. Columns would include pretty much every item that is logged in the database. That data should be exportable to CSV or Excel format, and then the innkeeper can manipulate that data as necessary. This also eliminates the need for Rezovation to create one-off reports that may or may not be useful to the majority of innkeepers.

I see that this was on your roadmap a year ago (per Ben's comment below). What is the current timeline for developing export to Excel functionality?

Thanks Mike -- something we are planning on doing for sure.

One workaround for now -- once you copy the reports from Excel into Word, you can sort the column headers so that they go to the top. Then you can delete the headers and just have the raw data.
